R oller Girls Take The Plunge
The River Valley Roller Girls are taking the plunge! Members of the RVRG will join the Fort Smith Police Dept. and area volunteers for the Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at World Class Fitness in Fort Smith.
Proceeds from the event help support year-round sports training and athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities who participate in Special Olympics Arkansas. |

Jello-Shot FUNd-raiser at Lost BeachSaturday, February 6th, come on out to the Lost Beach (1810 S. Zero St.) for the River Valley Roller Girls first fund-raiser of 2010. Help us start the year off right with $1 jello-shots, full-contact musical chairs & tons of roller girl fun! In addition to our $1 jello shots, we will also be holding a 50/50 raffle. Your $1 donation gives you a chance to win half the pot at the end of the night! (need not be present to win)

So, you wanna play roller derby?The River Valley Rollergirls are recruiting ladies 18 and up to participate in one of the most exciting, fastest growing, full-contact women's sports in U.S. history. No try-outs, prior roller derby or recent skating experience necessary. We are accepting all women and men 18 and up, regardless of age, size or skating ability. Roller derby not only offers exciting family entertainment for the community, but provides an outlet for the members involved from the stresses of everyday life. Mondays 6:30-8:30pm Thursdays 8:00-10:00pm @ Wheels in Motion, 1007 Fayetteville Road, Van Buren, AR. River Valley Rollergirl League Requirements:
- Skaters must be at least 18 years of age.
- Skaters must pay $35 a month for league dues
- To be eligable for a roster, skaters must attend at least 75% of scheduled practices.
- Skaters must provide their own safety gear (helmet, knee & elbow pads, wrist & mouth guards) within 6 weeks from their first practice. The rink will provide speed skates for beginning practices, but you are encouraged to purchase your own pair of quad speed skates as soon as possible.
-Skaters are required to pass a minimum skills test outlined by the WFTDA before participating in contact practices.
-Skaters required to have all of their safety gear to participate in contact practices.
-Participants must submit a copy of their identification (drivers license, birth certificate) for the league to keep on file.
-Skaters must register for USA Roller Sports insurance coverage through USARS, $40 yearly fee.
-Above all, anyone involved whether skating or volunteering MUST have a positive attitude!

So... you don't skate, but you still want to be a part of the most awesome thing to ever happen in the River Valley. Not to worry, we've got a job for you. The River Valley Rollergirls are recruiting anyone who would like to be a part of our referee squad, statician team, announcers, EMTs, cheerleaders, events planning, bout production, etc...
